Call in and Make an Appointment

I hate when people ask you to call ahead to make sure that your appointment is still scheduled and ready. I'm always thinking, "Well why wouldn't it be? I'm here, and I made the appointment. Why wouldn't you leave this place open for me because I was responsible enough to make an appointment far ahead of time anyways?" But I know the response will always be "I'm sorry, but we here at ____ are not required to keep the appointment open if there are problems." So that's like backing out of a promise. But it's barely even like a promise... I'm paying you to do something for me, and make my life easier- yet in some cases, less easy. They act like they are doing us the favor by giving us the opportunity to make an early appointment, when in actuality, they are screwing us over because someone else can come along and screw us too. Maybe we should be the ones to screw others' well-though planning. But no, the cycle would continue, and no one would ever get what they want. So just a thought, don't get screwed, don't call to confirm because you'll be confirming the existence of nothing and don't forget to put a little check mark next to the "screwed" box on the To-Do list.
