My best friend said to me today, "I don't think you know how much I love you." Granted, this was in response to how I was going to take her on yet another date to Wendy's for a value hamburger, but then she broke the hug and looked in my eyes and said it again. That's the moment that counts. (To over clarify, I know she loves me, and I love her more than anyone can imagine.)
If you know my face, picture me sitting in the chair next to you or lounging nearby on the couch or sprawled out on the floor. This is what I would say: "I love you. You have come into my life for some reason or another, and I appreciate everything you are worth. If someday you need someone to hold your hand, pay for a one-dollar hamburger, or be your life-lover, I am here for you. The fact that I am in your life doesn't mean that I like you, it means I love you, and you can count on me for anything."
The point is, my definition of love is opening up a part of your heart for the people you want to invest time in. I could never ask for someone to love me if they only like me. If you know what I mean then great. If you don't, sorry. I'm difficult, but I love you, and I want you to be happy, just like I hope you would want the same for me.
